Goodmayes Driving Test Centre

- Every route leaves by Kildowan Road, a 20mph side street, and most turn onto Granton Road or Goodmayes Road straight away. Check both ways properly at that first junction; nerves make it the easiest place to rush.
- Green Lane (the A1083) appears on almost every route. It is a long 30mph road with side roads, crossings and parked cars, so hold a steady 30 and watch for vehicles pulling out.
Wanstead Driving Test Centre

- Charlie Brown's Roundabout is where the A406, the A113 Chigwell Road and the A1400 Woodford Avenue meet. It is a 40mph, multi lane roundabout. Choose your lane from the signs on the approach and hold it all the way round.
- Many routes use the George Lane one way loop around the A406 in South Woodford (George Lane, The Viaduct and Mulberry Way). Read the lane arrows early and keep to the one way flow.
Hornchurch Driving Test Centre
75 Station Lane, Hornchurch, RM12 6JX

- Most routes leave by Ravenscourt Grove and Hacton Lane onto Upminster Road (A124). Take care at the junctions with Upminster Road, which is busy in both directions.
- Around half the routes use the A127 Southend Arterial Road, which runs at 40 to 70mph. Build up to the speed of the traffic before you join, and watch for the limit dropping as you come off.
Chingford Driving Test Centre

- Station Road, King's Road, Larkshall Road and Friday Hill are 20mph, as are most of the streets you will drive. Keep checking your speedometer, especially going downhill.
- Most routes include a forest road: Ranger's Road, Bury Road or the A104 Epping New Road, which are 40mph in places. Build up to the limit where it is safe and slow down well before the 30 and 20 signs back into town.
